Origins of Our Products and Company
In the 1970's, the concept of renewable, sustainable, energy efficient and eco-friendly buildings using wind and solar power was born. Still these early stage concepts remained susceptible to fires and flooding, were impracticable, unreliable, and expensive to maintain. During this time 1st generation Structural concrete Hand-applied Insulated Panels (SHIPs) were invented and developed for use.
In the 1980's, 2nd generation SHIPs were refined and developed in California, the Southwest and in Mexico and thousands of homes and buildings were built.
In the late 1980's and 1990's cheap lumber, energy and shortsighted construction practices drove most SHIP development into Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.
In 2002
VolcanWall was born and it's founders began researching & developing a cutting edge, third generation of SHIPs technology and it's processes, recognizing the need for structures that were not only energy efficient, but virtually fire, wind, flood and insect proof as well.
Today
